We set the scene and theme for the track in our heads. We have the Mint warehouse in leeds floor in mind. We have a very clear idea of what we will be trying to achieve with this track. A strong idea and goal in mind.
We use a basic drum groove to start the track, and begin to pick sounds that sound nice using Electra X. We try not to overthink this part, and enjoy the process of creating sounds from scratch.
Up The Stuss Part 2
A very basic idea is formed after on hour. The project at this stage is a bit too deep and very basic sounding. We realise that and begin to make things sound more dancefloor friendly and more peak time ready. We start working on a rough arrangement in this part, and begin to create more energy in the track.
Up The Stuss Part 3
We keep crafting away improving the track slowly but surely. Adding small effects and using some techniques that I apply every single track, to start getting the track sounding as good as possible We locate the weakest sounds and try to improve them.
When making a track there is always a part you need to start working on the small details, which can be boring and tedious.
This is where we start to look at this.
Up The Stuss Part 4
We come back with fresh ears, and the track sounds rough and muddy. We refrence to some other tracks and decide its time to change our kick, clap and this make a huge difference.
We are constantly trying to improve the track, using techniques that always work when tackling this process. We continue improving the arrangement, and adding extra layers to fill in the gaps in this part
Up The Stuss Part 5
Big change up in this part. Again we apply the techniques of improving our weakest parts, and we add a new bassline which makes a huge difference to this track. We play in a hole new melody and the track really comes alive now.
We keep looking for sounds to take the track to the next level, small effects and vocal parts.
We hit a dip in this part also, start feeling uninspired which can often be part of
the process. We work on the breakdown and try to make things that didnt
sound good enough much better.
Up The Stuss Part 6
The very final touches. Bass changes in notes so more melodic.
Variations that really bring the trakc together and make it sound finished. Small touches to the arrnegement and the realk final touches to make it ready for the dancefloor. We compare earlier versions of our track and the mixdown and track sound so much better. The is a constant improvement in the production and that is a big part of the process.
